Giuliano de Medici Art Print by Sandro Botticelli Frame:Wood Illustrating the story told byGiuliano de Medici was the ruler of Florence in the early 1510s and the younger brother to Lorenzo de Medici. Giuliano was brutally murdered by the familys rivals, the Pazzi family, during the Easter mass of 1478. Botticelli was commissioned to complete this portrait which honoured Giuliano as a saint like figure, with symbolic details such as the mourning dove and open window.
