Painted Sideboard From Shanxi - 19th Century Chakki Tables Beautifully made with a woodenThis Shanxi sideboard dates to the early 19th century and has its original painting. The front of the piece is decorated with traditional floral paintwork on a vibrant red background. It is from Northern China and would have been owned by relatively wealthy citizens who lived in the border areas of Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia & Shanxi. These cabinets were used for storage of clothes and bedding or grain although they were also used as altar
