Aechmea lueddemanniana 'Alvarez' PITCAIRNIA some of which formerly hadBeautifully variegated with a broad stripe of pinkish orange up the center of each leaf when grown in bright light. Makes an outstanding landscape plant, adaptable to many different conditions from shade to sun. Can reach 30 inches across at maturity with an inflorescence of grayish blue berries. The form 'Alvarez' is slow growing and was supposedly originally collected wild, and is considered by some to be the most beautiful form of the species.
